Off the beaten track
fact: How much does your bottled water really cost? 7 times as much water that's in the bottle is polluted or used, just to produce and transport it. A $2.50 liter of bottled water costs 10,000 times the amount of drinking tap water.
act: Virtually everywhere in Canada, tap water is safe to drink and much cheaper. By choosing tap water and a clean, durable reusable container, you'll be saving dollars, space in the landfill, and pollution created by producing and transporting bottled water.
I'm a youthful, compassionate, gentle-natured, early forties guy who has never been satisfied with the mainstream, the traditional, or the predictable. However, that doesn't mean I don't enjoy any mainstream, traditional, or predictable things. I just don't like to be too passive in the experience of life. This means that instead of submitting to the distraction of television, I'd rather take a course, see a play, read a book, be involved, find out what's on my mind and in my heart.
Though not at all religious, I have always been a bit of a spiritual seeker. It's not so much the meaning of life, or the attention of a deity that I seek, but simply growth, progress, my own truth. I like to have fun, to laugh, to play, but not in selfish ways that interfere with the pleasures of others or at the expense of the environment.
I would like to meet and become friends with an adventurous, broad-minded woman who seeks meaningful friendship first, and whatever relationship style that builds off of that friendship, I am open to experiencing. Ideally, I seek a woman who already has a satisfying, challenging life, but seeks a partner to augment it, not simply to fill an empty space, without either of us losing our identity and individuality in the process.
If a man with a car is a necessity for you, I'm probably not your guy. I have chosen to be car-free, and cycle or walk most places, renting cars when needed at other times, and anticipate continuing this as long as it is practicable. I also don't much subscribe to deriving satisfaction from the material, and try to keep my material needs to a minimum so that I can spend less time working and more time enjoying life.
Socially, I am more likely to enjoy one-on-one, or small, intimate groups, rather than large scale events at which small talk is the primary theme. However, a party now and again is good too.
I do not wish to bring any children into the world, but I'm certainly willing to encourage those who are already here, including yours, if you have them.
Well, there's the very simplistic 'less war, more peace', however that might be achieved. More love, less judgement. More golden rule, less unconscious hedonism. Personally, I' probably do away with capitalism, but that seems like a long shot, so I don't plan on investing a pile of work there.
Really, all I can do is, as the saying goes, 'be the change I would like to see'. It's an imperfect journey, but without a perfect direction toward which to guide oneself, where are we headed?
