Right now I feel like someone hit me with an axe in the chest, then a truck ran over me Fahr. . Never been in such pain in my life. The reason being is that I was a guinea pig. I was the first patient ever at Boston Medical Center to undergo an operation of this kind with the medication that I take which is buprenorphine (suboxone). It;s for opiate dependant people and is what is called a agonist. It blocks narcotics from working at th receptor cites. I carry a warning card in my wallet that indicates that I take this stuff and gives instructions on how to treat one on this stuff should he need narcotic analgesics for pain reliefin a bad accident or some other such painfull condition. In other words they would have to give me astronomical amounts of narcotics for it to have an effect on me normally. I had this discussion with my surgeon before the operation and he assured me that it would be challenging but he will work with me. They came no where near a propper dose for me and I ended up screaming at them all. They doubled it, doubled it again, and again, I had a button 5that everytime you push it you get dope. It wasn't enough. I know enough about drugs to tell them what to do and they had no choice but to listen to me or I would have killed someone. They had me on dilaudid. 5 - 4mg. pills whenever I wanted. Like straight heroin. Your still not pain free but you can take a nap once in a while. A warning to the wise who take suboxone. make sure you straighten it out with you doctor before surgery. A living hell i was in every time I woke up.!!!!!!!! Still in pain. It's subsiding a bit but I have to sleep sitting up. Fucked up or what?
